The Cleary Foundation for the Deaf is
pleased to sponsor courses in American Sign Language. The courses are opened to
the general public, and at no charge to the families of students. These
classes, held twice weekly, are geared for the novice to advanced communicator.
All classes are held at Cleary School’s campus in Nesconset.
In the past year, classes in ASL have also
been offered in “intersessions”. Five week mini sessions are held during the
winter break and summer break to allow ASL students the opportunity to maintain
their skills.

The Cleary Foundation for the Deaf is in the
process of applying to become a RID sponsored workshop site. It is a goal of the
Foundation to provide workshops for interpreters in the Long Island area.
Information on workshops to follow.

GERALD
The Cleary Foundation for the Deaf was pleased to host the
ASL Films production of “Gerald” on Friday, November 20, 2009.
“Gerald” is the fourth movie produced by ASL Films and is done completely with a
Deaf cast and in American Sign Language.
The opportunity to provide entertaining events totally
accessible to a Deaf audience is the continual goal of the Cleary Foundation.
We are thrilled that an audience of 150 persons was able to attend and enjoy
this event.
